The thing with hard to reach books that require the aid of a ladder is that you can spend many a happy hour rediscovering the high up and long ago shelved titles.
Wow. I am having serious bookshelf envy...especially for the shelves in the first picture. I'd love to have all those shelves for my books. :) Great post!
