Saturday Snapshot - Lake Effect Snow

Ever wonder what lake effect snow looks like in the making? This is a snow squall moving its way across Lake Ontario headed for our fair shores.

Interesting. Of course I've never seen such a thing. I've hardly ever seen snow!

Nice shot! From where I live I can tell when rain's coming by looking out to the far promontory on my left. Rain that comes our way (almost) always sweeps in from that direction. If the rain bypasses it and goes across the channel I know Road Town won't get rain.

"Lake Effect" is a fact of life for me, too. Great shot!

Moody and atmospheric. Would make a great setting for a mystery novel.

That is a really cool picture. It looks like the god setting for a story :)

Fabulous shot.
We had snow here last week and I went for a collage of our snow day.

In Southwestern Ontario, we often get lake-effect snow storms, but I don not recall seeing it form on the lake. Good pic.

Great photo. The approaching storm looks really ominous.

It has been a cool one hasn't it? Did I ever tell you I love your gold fish in your header.

Trish said...

Thanks, Irene, I have a soft spot for goldfish. I have them in a backyard pond in the summer and then in a couple of tanks in the house in the winter.

Interesting weather lesson. I'm on the west side of Lake Michigan so we never get to see the snow form, and when it does it usually it goes to the Michigan folks instead of us!

Wow, what a powerful photo! My sister lives in upstate NY and so I hear about lake affect snow but I have never experienced it...
