Where has the time gone?! What with ice storms and power outages and hosting holidays with all my boys home something had to give, and that was reading. It's the only circumstance where I happily give up such an otherwise essential activity. So, in spite of what Mother Nature threw at us I had a wonderfully blessed and happy holiday season.
I am almost through with Alice Hoffman's The Museum of Extraordinary Things, enjoying it immensely and looking forward to posting a review. Following that I will finally be able to pick up Carol Cassella's Gemini, which looks good on so many levels. On the audiobook front I am DYING to finish Gillian Flynn's agonizingly suspenseful Gone Girl. This book has movie written all over it.
Also! I started, read, and finished War and Peace in the six weeks before Christmas, and man-oh-man did I ever love that book. It's just as good as Anna Karenina and has firmly placed Tolstoy as my number one favourite historical author. Again, I find myself in the conundrum of having to *review* such an esteemed book. How, though? What to say? Now that life has settle back to a somewhat normal routine, I'll have to see what I can put together.

The more people who recommend War and Peace, the more I want to read it. I enjoyed Anna Karenina immensely last year so maybe I should take the plunge...
Alice Hoffman is good, isn't she? I have some of her older titles on my TBR that I'm looking forward to getting to.
War and Peace has been given a bad rap by being so long but, really, it's a mini-series with short chapters making a lot more readable than I imagined. The only part that gave me pause was the military analysis towards the end. A little bit of creative skimming took care of that, though.
Sounds like an awesome holiday! One day I would like to get around to War and Peace. :)
Alice Hoffman's "Dovekeepers" was my favorite fiction of the year. It was the first book I read by her. I'm looking forward to your review.
