Okay, so I kind of gave up on Milan Kundera's The Unbearable Lightness of Being as being just too philosophical about having affairs. Ehn, I dunno. I'm all for looking at things with an open mind, whether I agree with them or not, and I might still pick this up and finish it another time, but . . . just not right now. So, back on the shelf it goes.
What I am in the mood for, though, is wintery books on account of the super blustery, cold and snowy weather we're having.
A quick scan of my shelf produced these likely candidates . . .
The Tenderness of Wolves by Steff Penny
Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwartz
Annabel by Kathleen Winter
The Colony of Unrequited Dreams by Wayne Johnston
I thoroughly enjoyed the wintery themes in Kate Mosse's The Winter Ghosts and Edith Wharton's Ethan Frome.
I'm looking for more like these. Any suggestions?

Oh, Annabel is perfect for this time of year - you should definitely read it!
There have been some great reviews of Annabel (including Sam's), so I really want to read that one. I did read The Colony of Unrequited Dreams by Wayne Johnston years ago and remember liking it but, unfortunately, not much else :-(
Okay, thanks! I'll give Annabel a closer look.
I enjoyed The Snow Child for the same reason.
Colony of Unrequited Dreams is quite wonderful, although I don't remember it being completely wintry. Instead, I recommend The Divine Ryans by the same author. "Winter" is all I remember clearly about Drowning Ruth, so I know it played a large part in it.
I would also suggest Under This Unbroken Sky by Shandi Mitchell, Twenty-Six by Leo McKay Jr. and February by Lisa Moore (Canadian authors, all).
Ali & Debbie - thanks for those suggestion! I'm going to look into those.
