Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James

Oh golly, this was all kinds of silly. The writing, for starters, was more than a little juvenile for such an adult book. So, Mr. millionaire Christian Grey 'clambers' into his limousine, does he? Oh really? I dunno. The word 'clamber' should only be used with regards to children and school busses or toddlers and grandparent's laps, not hot, successful, international business moguls. And how Ana (virginal, obvs) reached the ripe old age of 22 without ever having even explored her own body is beyond me. This has male fantasy written all over it, as in 'Here, young virgin, let me be the one to introduce you to your own body'. Yeah. I don't think so. *eye roll* And if Ana said 'oh my' or 'holy crap' one more time, especially in reference to Mr. Grey's oversized (natch) member, I think I might have barfed. Of course Mr. Grey is a tortured soul with a *Past*, all the more reason for Ana to stick around and 'fix' him. No co-dependency red flags there. But, hey. This is fantasy brain candy, and it is summer after all, so. Book one is a fun if tortuously lame read.

For a much better and more in-depth review, check out this one on Goodreads.

HA! I'm so much more amused by things people have said about this book than I'm sure I would be *by* the book! Hehe

Doesn't sound like a good read at all. Boring and juvenile it seems.
Enjoyed your take on it.

Laura - Haha yes, there are some really great reviews out there. The one I linked is especially funny with gifs and everything.

Harvee - I know, right? It was so endearingly feeble I couldn't look away.

I haven't read this book, nor do I intend to, but I wanted to see what the buzz was all about so when I was in a book store last week I decided to open up to a random page and read a few sentences.

It's a joke right? This is a prank the publishing industry is pulling for us supporting indie writers or something right? Because otherwise I just don't get it.

I love that .gif filled review! Also, if you want a laugh, watch this video with Gilbert Gottfried (the voice of the parrot in Aladin) reading it.

ain't it grand when non-writers strike it rich with their 'books'? lol

if only i could come up with something stupid, like 'twilight', or '50 shades', then use a wheelbarrow to roll all the loot to my bank!

Kayleigh - Thanks for the head's up on that youtube link. Ha! That should be fun. When it comes to the movie (and I'm sure there'll be one) I was thinking to cast Robin Williams as Christian Grey lol.

LW - Yes, I'm afraid for the future.

don't be... it'll just make finding the needles in the haystacks much harder, yet still possible

just pity the poor folk with greatly reduced home libraries because so few books will be worth owning :(

Haha! I couldn't help but smile. I know there is a bunch of hype surrounding this book but I haven't paid much attention to it. I might have to tune in if the reviews are as entertaining as this :)
