Book Haul

Pretty decent for five bucks, I'd say. Anyone familiar with any of these?

Not read any of them, but have heard good things about Still Alice. And my husband is a massive Steinbeck fan, he thinks Winter of our Discontent is one of the better books.

A good haul indeed! :)

Oohh that's good to know! I've just rediscovered Steinbeck and love his stories and style of writing but didn't know much about this particular title, so. Thanks! Still Alice does look good, doesn't it? I have Left Neglected already on my TBR shelf. She seems like an author who likes to tackle emotional, real life issues.

The WInter Of Our Discontent is really really fab! A bit sort of moody and not too happy, but hey, that's how I likes my books! Also, I haven't read that Rushdie, but I'm sure it's great because the two I've read (Midnight's Children and The Satanic Verses) are AWESOME.

Wow, that's a haul for sure! I've had Still Alice on my to read list, too. They all look good.

Laura - yeah, moody pulls me in too. Salman Rushdie sounds like he'd be a good read; I love that he's controversial!

Shrink - I'm eager to get to that one. Not only do I like moody, it seems I'm drawn to challenging life issues as well. It's all so interesting how people, and authors, handle difficult situations.

That's a great deal for five dollars! The only one I have read is Still Alice, which I thought was excellent.

I know, right!? My trusty little downtown thrift store comes through again.

Only $5 for the whole lot?!? That's a steal!
I've always wanted to read The Swallows of Kabul and The Kindness of Strangers was spectacular. Great selection!

Stacy - I know! I was feeling all guilty on my way out to the car, like I had indeed stolen an arm full of books :-/ But they calculate it by weight and I guess my load rang up in the five-dollar range. It's just lucky for me I was there when they'd just unpacked a large book donation, and all in such great shape, too! WooHoo :)

Diane - Just lucky. Sometimes I come up empty handed.

Mystica - Oh good! Well I'm certainly looking forward to reading it.
