Saturday Snapshot - Books!

There's nothing like a used book sale to kick-start summer reading! As soon as I, you know, get through some of those TBRs that have been lingering on my shelf for, like, ever for quite some time. I swear I don't know how my shelves get so full. I think an elf sneaks books into the house in the middle of the night while we're all asleep. This is the last sale -that I know of, honest- until the big one at my son's school in September. And guess who's in charge of organizing THAT one? *evil laugh*

Anyone familiar with any of these titles? I can't wait to get started.

Of all of this stack, I have only read the Ann Patchett, Run -- which was quit good.
This is a lovely pic of some good reading!

Oopsie.
I meant it was QUITE. good, not QUIT good...... which is an entirely different thing.

Hey, I also read that Parini book about Tolstoy which was quite QUITE and QUIT good!

Little Bee is an all time favorite of mine, and you just can't go wrong with Ann Patchett, IMO --enjoy (all look so colorful and in great condition as well).

I was thinking of sharing a photo of my "nightstand," but decided to wait on that. It's a much smaller pile than the Old TBRs and my New TBRs...separating them like that feels like I have them under control. lol

I do love books, in real life and in photos. I've read and enjoyed The Memory Keeper's Daughter and Run. Hope you love them all!

Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT

Don't you just love a good book sale? I have taken to buying from my annual library book sale and a small used book shop in Hillsdale, NY called Rodger's Book Barn ... it is like a little piece of heaven!

As for your pile of literature ... heard of Run, The Book of Salt, Little Bee, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, but have not read them ... happy reading to you, though!

Those elves pile books on my shelves too! :) Looks like you got a great stack this time. I love a good used book sale.

You picked up a nice selection. I have the same problem with book sales. I love to go to them but I don't need any more books! And I have two coming up in the next month.

Nice loot!

We have elves too, or probably goblins around here. Mount TBR keeps growing and parts of it is probably of interest to archeologists, or geologists, by now. I don't know how it happens, I swear. Have fun reading them :-)

I haven't read any of these, but I do have Half of a Yellow Sun on my shelf. I've heard great things about it.

I've been acquiring used books at a crazy rate. I'm glad my husband hasn't said anything, but our shelves are a bit over filled at the moment. :)

That's an amazing stack of books! I think the best of those that I've read is the Half of a Yellow Sun (writer went on to win a MacArthur genius award in the US), but I also loved Little Bee, Run, and the Memory Palace.

What a fabulous haul! You know I adore Half of a Yellow Sun, hope you like it as much as I do. The Free World is supposed to be very good too....

I've only read the top two of the stack and I thought they were both good. I thought about going to the book sale in our neighboring town yesterday, but by the time I would have gotten there after flute lessons, all of the best books would have been gone. So I didn't bother.

You won't have to leave the house for a few weeks while you read these! That way more books wont' tempt you. Here's Mine

I recognize several of these titles, but I've never read them. Heard good things about The Memory Keeper's Daughter, though.

Wonder if the same elf that sneaks books into your house sneaks into mine and throws my husband's dirty clothes just outside the hamper, instead of in it. ;)

All the titles look (sound) interesting. Do you pick up used books based on author, cover, or by reading the blub on the back?
I want to read The Memory Keeper's Daughter.

I agree with Dianne - you can't go wrong with Ann Patchett!

I enjoyed the Memory Keeper's Daughter and our book club read Little Bee. We didn't like it but we are very much in the minority on that one. Everyone else has given glowing reviews on it. Enjoy them all!

Stephen said...

Ohhh, I sympathize. And the thing is, there's always even MORE books out there waiting to be bought!

Little Bee is fabulous, but that's the only one I've read - that hardly ever happens!

I LOVE finding a book sales!! Makes an ordinary day thrilling!

Book sale! Yay. One of the branches of our county library is having their clearance sale next weekend...so you know where I'll be.

The only book I recognize in your haul is The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I've heard good things, but haven't read it. Have fun reading!

I love used book sales, followed by taking pictures of my finds. I haven't read any of these, but I noticed an Annie Dillard I'd be interested in. Happy reading! My SNAPSHOT

Perfectly wonderful photo! Now I must look through these titles online to see if any strike my fancy. Thanks!
