What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author who wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

This is so true! Since reading Great Expectations I've wished I had lived in Victorian England so I could have become Dickens best friend ever.
And YES, I'm sure we would have got on extremely well! ;)

kinda glad i don't know my fave authors' numbers, phone bills'd kill me - but would enjoy some coffee or a few beers now'n again :)
