Saturday Snapshot - Tea and Steinbeck

This is how I spent yesterday evening on account of the freezing rain. A pretty good compromise, I'd say.

Sounds like a perfect evening. Nothing better than hearing the rain on the window and being cosy inside with a great book!

Happy New Year, have loved reading your blog this year.

I love everything about this picture! I wish I could make a good cup of tea, though. Whenever I get tea from a specialty shop, it's always fabulous. As soon as I come home to replicate it, it's never as good as what I just had. So, I'm a coffee girl. Maybe for 2012, I'll try to learn how to make that fabulous tea?

Have a safe and Happy New Year, Trish :)

Oh, I'd say that's a perfect day! Love the cover on the Steinbeck book. I need to reread that one.

Have a Happy New Year!

I'm always jealous of an evening in with a good book, but I know this is my final winter of hectic sports events since one of my sons will graduate from high school in the spring. Here's Mine

Evapal - I know, right? Winter evenings were made for this kind of thing.

Happy New Year to you too :)

Natalie - I love a good cup of coffee, too. But here's the deal with tea: It has to be steeped strong and young (there's a joke in there somewhere lol) So put an extra tea bag into the pot - or an extra teaspoon of loose leaves - and then only steep for no more than a 2 or 3 minutes, and never more than 5. Tadaa! It's full bodied and strong but still sweet enough to drink without sugar if you want.

All the best for 2012!

Louise - thanks! Happy New Year :)

Laurel - It's a lovely and dramatic cover, isn't it? I'm really enjoying the book. Happy 2012!

Paulita - Hopefully you'll get some opportunities for nights-in with the New Year?! All the best for 2012 :)

That looks like the perfect way to spend an evening. I've yet to start with Steinbeck - I read Mice and Men in school but nothing since then.

Happy New Year Trish!

An absolutely perfect combination, I'd say! I prefer tea to coffee in the evening (coffee would keep me awake half the night - love it in the morning, though!) Hope you're enjoying East of Eden, and Happy New Year!

Sam - It's taken me a while to pick this one up, but I'm really enjoying it. Happy New Year to you too Sam!

Tracy - Yes, coffee is a must first thing in the morning, but tea in the afternoon is a lovely thing. All the best for 2012!

Enjoy! East of Eden is fantastic, by the way. One of my top five favorites. I hope you enjoy it.

Lisa - Yes, it was a rather perfect evening :)

Kristi - That's good to know. I keep seeing it on people's lists of must-reads so I knew I had to see for myself. And so far so good!

What a nice photo of what sounds like a relaxing evening. :)

The server for my site has been down this morning (which is frustrating since I have no control over it). My apologies though! I'm still trying to get around to visit all of the Saturday posts.

I agree, perfect compromise. I would be choosing a nice Jasmine tea to accompany my book.

Looks great to me. I hope to read East of Eden in early 2012. enjoy

That is my kind of evening too! Happy New Year.

gautami - yes, indeed!

Alyce - okay, thanks for the heads-up. I'd been trying to get onto your page and was hoping it wasn't a problem on my end. Looks like things are back up now, though.

Leslie - Jasmine tea would be lovely. The one I was drinking here was a Christmas blend with vanilla and peppermint.

Diane - I think you'll like it. It reminds me of Richard Yates whose books I know you enjoy.

Nise - Thanks and happy 2012 to you too!

Sure would be a great way to spend an evening when the weather is bad...The photo is so welcoming.

That's an excellent way to spend any day, but especially a rainy day. It's on my agenda for tomorrow. Lovely picture.

My Paris pics are here.

I really, really should read EoE again. I think I was in high school, and that was a long time ago. :<)
