Born Standing Up by Steve Martin

I listened to Born Standing Up as an audiobook read by Steve Martin himself. His voice is so endearing and so much a part of who he is, I wonder if reading the printed version would have been as enjoyable. He covers his childhood and family issues and his many many years of uncertain, angst-ridden nightclub performances before Saturday Night Live finally made him famous. It's a touching, interesting, heartfelt and, at times, funny story. I was just a little disappointed he didn't include more about his movies and recent life. When I did a google search on this book, I discovered a nifty review done as a hand-drawn montage.

Wow, now that is a montage! I like Steve Martin, I used to like the Father of the Bride films when I was just starting to grow up.

When I read books by celebrities I always hear them in my head while I read. Sounds like an interesting read/listen!

I've been meaning to get my hands on this book for a little while now, and like you, I think the audiobook is the way to go. I'm not a huge fan of audiobooks normally, but I can't possibly pass up the chance to hear him tell his own story!

That drawn review is fantastic!

I'm seriously thinking of stealing this montage idea...Wouldn't it be fun to try one?!

Beth - I hope Santa comes through :)

Sam - Yes, I like a lot of his films, too. My favorite is The Three Amigos - it makes me laugh every time.

Jill - This is the first time I listened to an autobiography. I think I'll probably do like this again.

Kayleigh - It's taken me a long time to come around to audiobooks but for a book and celebrity like this it's really the way to go.
