It was good to walk into a library again; it smelled like home.
Elizabeth Kostova, The Historian

This reminds me that I need to read The Historian.

It's a good line, and very true for all of us book addicts.
I enjoyed the settings and the wonderful locations in The Historian - didn't think much of the ending, though.

alexis - yes! it's a god read. It drags a little in places but evokes a lot of old world Europe and vampire lore.

tracy - so true. One of my earliest memories is being in an old library and loving that warm papery leathery smell. But, yeah, The Historian, I loved the parts that were good, but not so much the parts that dragged. And I was kind of on the fence about the end. It looks like they left the door open for a sequel, perhaps?

Quite possibly the author intended to write a sequel. The ending was so rushed, and the 'I lost my memory' bit was simply unbelievable.
