100 Best First Lines
I love savoring a book's opening lines. Who knew that there would ever be a collection of them in one place? How many of these do you recognize without looking at the title? I was surprised by some, failed miserably at others, and just plain realized how not very well-read I am.

I was surprised by how many of the books I'd never even heard of!
Please don't judge me but I'm unfamiliar with most of the books on the list.
A lot of these are new to me too. There are some great first lines out there and it always gets me to wondering how long an author spends on coming up with just the right one.
