Saturday Snapshot

There is just something so inviting and so curious about a meandering woodsy trail. I really love the quiet and the solitude and the discovery of what's around the next bend. There are several to choose from near where I live, so I try and walk a different one each time I head out for some fresh air and exercise.

My problem with these is that I tend to go on and on and on and on, just a little further, just to see what's around that corner, and then the next.

I so agree.

Very nice photo Trish. (the link on Alyce's website does not link directly to this photo, but rather to a book post).

oreneta - yes I have a hard time calling it quits with these trails too. I do love them so.

diane - thanks for letting me know! I just went over there and changed it.

Great snapshot. I used to live somewhere that had little walks like this but where I live now is very urban and I miss it.

The picture speaks mystery to me. Wonder what's waiting at the end of the trail...

I love meandering trails and images of them! This one would make a great blog header....

Thanks for sharing.

sam - I've lived in urban areas too and the first thing I noticed that I missed was earth and grass. A city does well to include green-space in its layout.

librarian - yes, the mystery! I love that.

laurel - a blog header?! What a great idea. Perhaps changing them with the seasons . . . .

Is that a sprinkling of snow down the trail? It's kind of interesting that it doesn't really show up anywhere else.

Here's my snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2011/01/saturday-snapshot-jan-22.html

bev - yes, it was old crusty snow from a long ago snowfall. I guess it was so protected there on the ground that it never melted or blew away. By March it will be all muddy.

That is a lovely photo! It makes me think of the Robert Frost poems (like the Road Not Taken or Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening.

That looks very inviting. I'm fortunate to have a lot of nice trails where I live too.

Great shot. It especially resonates with me, as I am trying to finish Bill Bryson's book: A Walk in the Woods.
