The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Finally a book that explores spirituality without religious preaching. It encourages one to listen to one's heart and go forth in life with enthusiasm, love and purpose.

'Maybe he was learning the universal language that deals with the past and present of all people. "Hunches" his mother used to call them. The boy was beginning to understand that intuition is really a sudden immersion of the soul into the universal current of life, where the histories of all people are connected, and we are able to know everything because all is written there.' pg 76

Beware of 'small' books; this one is a scant 140 pages and yet there is a large message about the human condition - very much worth reading.
